Poverty Inc. About the Film

The Great Recession of 2008 proved that Wall Street and Washington's promises of rising wages, upward mobility and job security were little more than empty rhetoric that paved the way to broken dreams, soup kitchens and homelessness for millions of American citizens. Six years later, the ranks of economically disenfranchised Americans continue to swell. Currently, the US ranks fourth highest in wealth inequality among 140 nations. Fifty million Americans live below the poverty line and 17 million live on less than $2 a day. These staggering figures bring into sharp focus the fact that the War on Poverty, declared 50 years ago by President Lyndon Johnson, has been a dismal failure.

Examining the influence of corporate globalization and exposing the destructive nature of our modern financial system, Poverty Inc. offers a sobering look into how the predatory economic policies instituted by America's new elite class have contributed to the nation's descent into Third World status. Engrossing in-depth interviews with some of the world's finest economists, progressive politicians, investigative reporters and philosophers, as well as the voices of America's downtrodden reveal the terrifying threats posed by unregulated capitalism and corporate power. Poverty, Inc. is a timely wake-up call for those seeking hard-hitting answers on the economic realities facing our country and world today.

The New York Times
The Corporate Creation of a New Class Structure — "Poverty Inc." Paints a Bleak Picture of Life After 2008
by ANITA GATES DEC. 4, 2014
The accumulation of wealth has become a pathology; those who have it want it all. Horror piles upon horror — policies on homelessness, trillion-dollar bailouts. By the final scene, the sight of an American president at a desk, pen in hand, surrounded by smiling, silver-haired men in suits, is enough to send shivers down the 99 percent's collective spine.

The Los Angeles Times
Advocacy documentary "Poverty Inc." offers its view of the Federal Reserve and how banks profit
by Martin Tsai DEC. 4, 2014
The 1999 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act effectively turned Goldman Sachs from a financial casino into a commercial bank with full government coverage. From the likes of Ralph Nader, former Rep. Dennis Kucinich, "Poverty Inc." characterizes the Fed as an unconstitutional lobbying body for commercial banks that prints money out of thin air. A pyramid scheme that redistributes wealth from the many to the few.

Now suffering is turned into cash flow! Viewers rave about provocative social documentary..Author, researcher and documentary producer Gary Null does it again. This gripping new documentary tells the story of America's economy from a relatively unconventional angle. Like other social documentaries over the past decade, Poverty Inc. exposes wealthy interests to show them for what they are. This documentary argues that the richest among us gain their wealth by riding on the backs and struggles of the poor, and shows how poverty has become an industry.

This is an important new documentary by GARY NULL about American politics / economy / power structure. Singer-songwriter Duane Thorin tells us, "It is the real deal, and trumps all the distractions created for us to argue about."

Congrats on your film. Would love to share it with my world. God bless your brave work.
- Andrew Harvey, "The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism".

No longer "workers of the world unite..." - Now, it's wage-slaves and debt-slaves of the world unite! Unite. Rebel. Revolt!
- Angeliki Morgogen

The word 'government' should no longer be spoken without the word 'corporate.' as a modifier " -Poverty Inc. Directed by Gary Null & Valerie Van Cleve
- Notable Quotes - Susan Ohanian, winner of the 2003 George Orwell Award for Distinguished contribution to honest and clarity in public language.

We need to get this film to every household on the planet!
